“The documentary “Vaxxed: From Cover-Up To Catastrophe” premiered in the U.K. last month, facing multiple instances of censorship, including from several members of the European Parliament. After weeks of negotiations between Vaxxed team Ireland and the Helix Theatre in Dublin, with the full knowledge that the film to be shown was Vaxxed, an agreement was reached on 14th March 2017 to host the Irish premiere of Vaxxed at the Helix Dublin on 5th May, 2017. After a disinformation campaign led by a small, but vocal, opposition group in Ireland, The Helix Theater then informed the Vaxxed Irish team on On 27th March 2017 that the booking was to be withdrawn.
The reason given was clearly stated by a Programming Sales Executive at the Helix, that in consideration of the wider perimeters of Dublin City University, the screening was cancelled from “a university perspective” and not due to any technical, or legal issue. Vaxxed was, in effect, censored by The Helix, under pressure from Dublin City University. It is noteworthy that Ireland is now the largest net exporter of pharmaceuticals in the EU accounting for over 50% of all exports from the country. In 2014 the sector exported products to the value of €64 billion.
Members of the Irish press and others have falsely reported that the event organizers, with Cinema Libre Studio’s full support, did not have an agreement in place with the Helix, when in fact, an agreement was firmly in place to screen the film on 5 May, 2017. Some members of the Irish press are also claiming that Vaxxed is an anti-vaccine film which is also a false assumption. The film simply calls for safer vaccines; asking that the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) shot be separated into three separate shots and that the doses are given to a child three years of age or older. Vaxxed, at its core, is about a whistleblower from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, who revealed that the CDC concealed, and destroyed data on their 2004 study that showed a causal association between the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine and autism.
Despite the HELIX cancellation and significant efforts to censor the film in Ireland the event will go ahead as planned and Vaxxed will be premiering in Ireland on 5 May, 2017. It is set to be the biggest European premiere of the film to date. ”
